Connor, aka PTL Brett, is the winner in this contest…and I think that he knows it.  He has gotten used to living in a house rather quickly.  He always lived at the dog track so understanding stairs, carpet, and windows are all new to him.  He has done quite well.  Jared has taken to him and has showed him our routine like an older brother should.  I have found out that Connor’s father, Brett Lee, is the world’s fastest Greyhound!  Look him up on www.YouTube.com and you will find several videos of just how fast his father was on the track.  I guess that is where Connor gets his need for speed comes from.  Connor was an awesome speedster on the track…winning a great number of races in his career.

Thanks to those 33 folks who voted in the poll.  It was a good poll and I will be posting another one soon.  I will also be creating another episode to my podcast, “Thom Takes On The World”, later on in this week.  There seems to be a larger number of downloads to my little podcast for some reason.  I guess the word is getting out about it.  I guess soon I will not be able to call it  my “little podcast” anymore.  I am hoping to have 1,000 downloads before my one year anniversary (May 26, 2009).  We’ll see if that comes true or not.  I’m not out to reap in numbers, but it is kind of fun to see how many out there are downloading TTOTW.

Well…I guess that I will end it here for now.  I appreciate all of the kind comments and e-mails from everyone.  Feel free to contact me by using my e-mail address: Thom@ThomTakesOnTheWorld.com.  It’s always cool to hear from you.

Keep your eyes and ears open because I’ll be out there!

The 1980’s was the decade that was dominated by the Gardfield Cadets…now known as simply “The Cadets”. They led the way to innovative coreography and music styling. What I have posted here is just a clip of their 1983 show. I hope that you enjoy this video and, perhaps, you will get hooked by the drim corps bug.

Enjoy!

I thought that I would give you a bit of a flavor into one of my favorite pastimes. Each summer I go to at least one drum corps competition. I guess I’m an addict of sorts. I enjoy the music, the energy, the color guard, well…just everything.

Above in the video is a corps called the Bayonne Bridgemen. This video (both parts) is from 1976. In each successive posting, I will show clips of how this art form has evolved.

Some of what you see above still takes place and some of what you see is now considered outdated. I will not tell you much of what happened because you will be able to see for yourself. It will be a primer for those who never have seen what drum and bugle corps used to be like.

Just thought I’d share a little of what I like with you.

Several weeks ago I posted a video of the 27th Lancers. Since they are no longer in existence, I had to find another corps to root for. It’s just the way I am. It took me many many years to decide which one because there were so many great ones out there to follow. Watch the video and I think that you will see that you will see that this is an amazing drum and bugle corps. Eventhough they did not win the world championships last year, they did an outstanding job.

If you are a drum corps fan, let me know what your favorite is and why.

The 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps from Revere, Massachusetts is my all-time favorite corps. They are no longer together in this competitive form. This video shows that last few moments of their competitive existence in 1985. I thought that I would share this with you so that you get a little peak into who I am.
